Things you didn’t know about “Nsenene” a Ugandan delicacy.

In the central region of Uganda, nsenene is made at home by parents and children as well as by sellers. The grasshoppers are insects that Ugandans fry in their own oil with onions, chilies, and other spices after they have removed their wings and legs. They are less expensive since nsenene secretes oil; residents don’t need to purchase cooking oil.

It’s been said that senene, a Ugandan delicacy, tastes like crispy chicken skin. However, nsenene chirp instead of clucking. The Luganda term for long-horned grasshoppers is nsenene; during the rainy season, they are a delight akin to popcorn.

The well-liked dessert is only accessible for a few months every year, specifically in November and the months around May during the wet season.
